Selena Gomez has a Quarantine Cooking Show coming to HBO Max

Selena Gomez is joining the world of celebrity chefs. The signer has signed on to do a cooking show for HBO Max, HBO’s streaming platform debuting May 27. The project is currently going by Untitled Cooking Project, and Gomez is starring in and executive producing the unscripted, 10-episode series, which debuts this summer.

Gomez is shooting the show while in quarantine and will be doing a “cookalong” each episode with a different master chef. The show will cover various cuisine types and will also highlight food-related charities during each episode. Gomez will be learning throughout the series how to cook and deal with the issues that can arise along the way (such as how to deal with missing ingredients).

“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food,” Gomez said in a statement. “I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef. I definitely don’t have the formal training though! Like many of us while being home I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”

“We are so excited to have Selena Gomez in our first wave of programming on HBO Max and watch her adventures in the kitchen as she, like many of us, tries to improve her cooking skills during quarantine,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content for HBO Max, said in a statement. “Blending her determination with top-tier culinary artists is sure to entertain and educate viewers about something we’re all trying to work through – how to make cooking at home exciting, fun and delicious.”
