Video auditions are not just to see if they want to bring you in for real deal anymore, its the digital age, and nowadays taped auditions can go straight to producers along with the rest of the auditions that may have been taped in a casting director’s office.

So, in order to prepare you for the digital age here are a few tips for TV/Film taped auditions.

#1 Can’t afford a HD video camera? Try using your iPhone

Have an iPhone or similar? Great, the quality is good enough that it will work. Just make sure you get heard by the microphone well and always make sure to film horizontally.

#2 Pay attention to your background

It is important to have a white wall or even blue wall as your background. No distractions on the wall, nothing, it should be clean or get close enough to this as possible.

#3 Pay attention to directions

If they call for a full body shot, do it, cut to a medium/tight shot. The entire torso doesn’t need to be scene. Casting directors want to see your reactions and emotions in your face.

#4 Don’t look directly into the camera

Don’t look at camera, look camera left or right.

Again, these are for tv/film auditions.
